On 23 March 2026, members of the Thai-Russian Chamber of Commerce (TRCC) participated in “Geography of Russian Taste,” an international gastronomy project held at Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok.
The event presented Russian cuisine as a modern and evolving cultural language, using gastronomy as a bridge between Russia and Thailand. Against the background of more than 135 years of Thai-Russian relations, the project highlighted how food can become a meaningful instrument of cultural diplomacy, friendship, and mutual understanding.
The dinner was organized with the support of several partners, including Rossotrudnichestvo, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Thailand, Vasilchuki Restaurant Group, and food product partners. Thailand Gastronomy Network participated as a key Thai partner, contributing to the dialogue between Russian and Thai culinary traditions.
Held under the concept “Northern Freshness and Tropical Energy in Bangkok,” the event explored the meeting of two different yet complementary culinary worlds. The idea reflected the contrast between the freshness and depth of Russian cuisine and the vibrant, expressive character of Thai gastronomy.
A special highlight of the evening was the four-hands dinner created by two chefs representing the two cultures: Alexander Raylyan, brand chef of Jamaa and representative of modern Russian cuisine, and Chef Bell — Pimthip Paosila, chef and founder of MIA – Made in Ari, representing Thailand Gastronomy Network.
The menu combined Russian and Thai ingredients, techniques, and culinary ideas. Among the featured dishes were creative interpretations such as miang kham tartlets with tuna and fermented beetroot, cod liver with black caviar and miso, borscht with coconut milk and prawns, as well as fusion desserts inspired by both tropical and northern flavors.
The participation of TRCC members in “Geography of Russian Taste” reflects the Chamber’s commitment to supporting cultural exchange, business dialogue, and people-to-people relations between Thailand and Russia. Events of this kind demonstrate that cooperation between the two countries extends beyond trade and investment, also embracing culture, hospitality, creativity, and shared human experience.
“Geography of Russian Taste” became not only a gastronomic evening, but also a vivid example of how culinary diplomacy can strengthen friendship and create new opportunities for dialogue between nations.
