On June 25, the opening ceremony of the first Russian-language Rotary Club in Thailand took place in Bangkok. This club aims to unite Russian compatriots and enthusiasts of Russian culture among the local population. The project was initiated by the Russian Trade Representation in Thailand, as reported by TASS correspondent Igor Brovarnik.
The Trade Representative of Russia in Thailand, Yuri Lyzhin, highlighted that the establishment of the Russian-language club in Bangkok will positively impact the strengthening of cultural and business ties between the countries, promote humanitarian exchange, and advance Russian culture. "One of the club's goals is to potentially raise funds to support cultural relations initiatives between Thailand and Russia, as well as educational projects, particularly assisting those learning the Russian language," he said in an interview with TASS.
"We strive for diversity and would like to have clubs not only in the Thai language. The opening of a Russian-language club aligns perfectly with this aim. Our networking format, in my opinion, will benefit our countries," noted Rotary District Governor for Thailand, Vichai Chivakanit.
The President of the Thai-Russian Chamber of Commerce (TRCC), Vitaliy Kiselev, expressed hope that the new Rotary Club would help unite Russian businesspeople living in Thailand. "This is a new opportunity for Russian compatriots to gather and engage with each other, exchanging ideas and information. For instance, TRCC is not a Russian club, as there are more Thai companies in the chamber than Russian ones. Here, conditions are created specifically for compatriots to communicate. Traditionally, Rotary is primarily a business club, so I believe it will help unite Russian entrepreneurs in Thailand," he shared.
