TRCC Participates in Consultative Meeting with BOI and Government Agencies

Bangkok, June 14, 2024 - The Thai-Russian Chamber of Commerce (TRCC) participated in the latest Consultative Meeting organized by the Board of Investment (BOI) at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, which also saw involvement from various foreign chambers of commerce and Thai government agencies.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary General of the BOI, and his deputy, Mr. Wirat Tatsaringkansakul. The agenda was comprehensive, focusing on updates of policies and incentives by the BOI and responses to significant proposals by the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand (JFCCT). Key discussion points included adjustments to the List 3 of the Foreign Business Act, and critical updates on work permit and visa regulations, particularly concerning the Long Term Resident (LTR) visa.

An essential part of the event was the facilitated interaction with key government bodies such as the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour, Immigration Bureau, and Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce. These interactions aimed to iron out logistical hurdles and streamline processes affecting foreign businesses in Thailand.

Mrs. Vibeke Lyssand Leirvåg, Chairwoman of the JFCCT, delivered responding remarks that highlighted the collaborative efforts of all parties involved and underscored the importance of these interactions in enhancing Thailand's attractiveness as an investment destination.

Mr. Bob Fox, a key coordinator for the JFCCT, together with other members, posed specific questions that aimed at clarifying and advancing the agenda on critical issues affecting the foreign business community in Thailand.

The meeting was marked by the attendance of over 100 representatives from various foreign chambers and Thai government agencies, demonstrating a robust commitment to fostering a more favorable business environment in Thailand.

The TRCC expresses its gratitude to the BOI for their diligent coordination and ongoing commitment to engaging with the foreign chambers, and to all government agencies that participated.
