TRCC Members Participated in the Pushkin Ball in Bangkok
Members of the Thai-Russian Chamber of Commerce joined Bangkok’s first Pushkin Ball at the Royal Thai Navy Congress Hall on 6 March. The evening brought together Russian ballroom dance, music and cultural exchange.
The ball was organised by Ekaterina Alexeeva, artistic director of the Katyusha Dance Academy. H.E. Evgeny Tomikhin, Russia’s Ambassador to Thailand, opened the event and spoke about the importance of cultural cooperation between the two countries. TRCC members attended and supported the initiative.
Ballroom traditions brought to life
Tatyana Nikolaevna Dokukina, head of the Ballroom Dance Studio at the MGIMO Cultural Centre, helped prepare the dance programme. Guests joined Thai cadets and Katyusha dancers in performing the polonaise, mazurka, polka, waltzes and pas de grâce.The programme also included musical and opera performances, alongside jazz piano by Ivan Sharapov. An exhibition entitled “Pushkin’s Moscow” introduced guests to the world of the Russian poet.
A meeting of cultures
Ekaterina Alexeeva explained that the idea for the ball followed her son’s participation in a similar event at MGIMO. Her aim was to introduce Thai audiences to Russian cultural traditions. Following the first ball, she expressed interest in organising another edition.Through dance, music and participation, the evening gave guests an opportunity to experience those traditions together. TRCC welcomed the opportunity for its members to support cultural dialogue between Thailand and Russia.
