Navigating 2026: A Deep Dive into BOI Incentives and Compliance

Navigating 2026: A Deep Dive into BOI Incentives and Compliance

We were delighted to welcome our members and partners to the Royal Orchid Sheraton last Thursday for our seminar, "Navigate 2026: Latest BOI Incentives & Practical Compliance Roadmap."

The event was a resounding success, marked by high engagement during our roundtable and vibrant networking over cocktail.

The seminar opened with a comprehensive overview from Ms. Anin Meksuksai (Board of Investment), who highlighted Thailand's robust economic momentum, noting that 2025 set the highest FDI record in BOI history. She emphasized the BOI’s evolving role not just as a promoter, but as an "Integrator" and "Facilitator" designed to drive the "New Economy". Ms. Anin detailed the strategic focus on five key industries: Automotive (especially EV), Smart Electronics, Digital & Creative, Alternative Energy, and Regional Headquarters.

A major highlight for the SMEs was the detailed breakdown of the Investment Promotion Measure. To be eligible, companies must have at least 51% Thai ownership and a minimum investment of 500,000 Baht. Specific high-value categories eligible for enhanced incentives include Research & Development (R&D), Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, and Advanced Material Technology. These knowledge-based activities can qualify for significant benefits, including Corporate Income Tax (CIT) exemptions for up to 10–13 years.

Expert contributions from the private sector provided a "Practical Compliance Roadmap." Mr. Diego Sala (Siam Trade Development) urged investors to prioritize "Project Before Company," noting that reversing this logic often leads to difficulties. Dr. Maria Schlueter (Legal Pillars International) joined the panel to share critical updates on the 2026 Foreign Business License (FBL) regime, including the new "Fast Track" licensing that can slash approval times to just one month.

The event concluded with a clear consensus: Thailand’s 2026 regulatory landscape rewards value creation. As the speakers noted, the system now provides more tools than ever — from the Long-Term Resident (LTR) Visa for highly skilled professionals to the "HQ Biz Portal" for regional headquarters.

We thank our speakers and members for making this a landmark event.
And of course, this event would not be possible without our sponsors.
