On 6 December 2025, Bangkok hosted Fashion Affairs, a major cultural showcase of Thai and Russian traditional costumes. The event was organised by the Thai–Russian Cultural Foundation, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Thailand and the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Thailand. The runway evening took place at the Grand Auditorium of the Royal Thai Navy Headquarters and welcomed more than one thousand guests, including diplomats, government representatives, cultural institutions, academia, and members of the business community.
The Thai–Russian Chamber of Commerce (TRCC) actively participated as partner in the event.
TRCC members joined the celebration together with the President of TRCC, Mr. Vitaly Kiselev, demonstrating the Chamber’s commitment to supporting cultural dialogue and strengthening Thai–Russian cooperation across multiple sectors.
Following the concept of the organisers, the runway featured non-professional models — diplomats, military officers, business leaders, artists, and scholars — who presented traditional Russian costumes as well as regional Thai attire. This “cultural exchange of roles,” where Thai participants wore Russian traditional dress and Russian participants wore Thai costumes, created an elegant dialogue between the two cultures.
Russian Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. Evgeny Tomikhin, emphasised that such a showcase was held in Thailand for the first time and highlighted its significance in deepening mutual understanding between the two nations. Guests also enjoyed a performance of Russian folk dance by the Bangkok-based ensemble Katyusha.
The President of the Thai–Russian Cultural Foundation and artistic director of “Katyusha,” Mrs. Katherine Aliakseyeva, noted that the essence of the event was the idea of “costume as a language of communication,” bringing together professionals from different fields to represent both cultures on one stage.
In the foyer, visitors explored an exhibition of traditional costumes from various regions of Russia — including Bashkortostan, Dagestan, Kalmykia, Karelia, Mordovia, North Ossetia–Alania, Tatarstan, and Chuvashia — along with photography projects featuring Russian costumes on the streets of Bangkok and Thai costumes on Red Square in Moscow.
The participation of TRCC members underscored the Chamber’s continuous support for initiatives that enhance cultural diplomacy and strengthen long-term relations between Thailand and Russia.
